At LJN, training is not separate from practice, it is grounded in it. Our workshops, consulting, and policy development work draw directly from lived experience, professional interpreting knowledge, community feedback, and ongoing reflection on how language operates in real-world settings. We work in spaces where communication carries risk, and where small shifts in practice can have a significant impact on safety, access, and outcomes.

Workshop feature
From Tools to Allies is one of our core training offerings.
This workshop supports teams to move beyond transactional approaches to language support and develop more thoughtful, collaborative ways of working with interpreters and translators.
It focuses on:
- understanding interpreter roles and responsibilities
- improving pre-briefing and debriefing practices
- identifying risks in on-demand language support
- recognising power dynamics in interpreted interactions
- strengthening communication practices for multilingual LGBTQIA+ communities
The session is practical, reflective, and grounded in real scenarios. Participants leave with clearer frameworks for engaging interpreters in ways that support safer, more effective communication.
Consulting & Policy Development
LJN works with organisations that want to strengthen the quality, safety, and inclusivity of their communication practices, not just at an individual level, but across systems.
Our consulting and policy work supports organisations to move from recognising that language access matters, to understanding how to implement it in practice.
