Get involved
Join us in building a world where everyone can be heard.
LJN grows through collaboration, with practitioners, community members, partner organisations, supporters, and people who want to help reshape language access in meaningful ways.
Why get involved
Why your involvement matters
Language justice is collective work. It cannot be built by one practitioner, one organisation, or one service alone. It requires people willing to rethink how communication happens, support those doing the work, and help create systems that are safer and more inclusive.
When you get involved with LJN, you are not only supporting one organisation. You are investing in a broader shift: better language practices, stronger multilingual leadership, more representative pathways into the sector, and better outcomes for communities who are too often expected to adapt to systems that were not built with them in mind.
Ways to get involved
How you can contribute
Our interpreting and translation services are delivered by NAATI-certified practitioners who are trained in queer-affirming, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practice. We support communication across a range of settings, including health, legal, migration, community, settlement, and mental health contexts.
Partner With Us
Collaborate with LJN on training, policy development, service design, research, or community-facing projects. We work with organisations that want to improve multilingual communication in thoughtful and practical ways.
Join the Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG)
Contribute to the development of programs, resources, and strategic priorities through lived experience leadership and community accountability.
Volunteer or Mentor
Support LJN’s programs through practical contribution, mentoring, outreach, administration, or sector support. This may include supporting bilingual practitioners progressing through pathways such as Launchpad or certification programs.
Work With Us
Respond to calls for interpreters, translators, project staff, trainers, and collaborators as opportunities arise. We are building a growing network of practitioners and partners aligned with LJN’s values.
Donate or Fundraise
Provide financial support that helps sustain core operations, subsidise training pathways, strengthen capacity-building programs, and support community-led work.
Partnerships
Partnerships and collaboration.
We collaborate with community organisations, health and legal services, educational institutions, funders, researchers, and practitioner networks. These partnerships may involve training, consulting, co-design, resource development, project delivery, or broader strategic collaboration.
We are particularly interested in partnerships that value community leadership, shared learning, and long-term change. If your organisation is looking to strengthen language access, support multilingual communities more effectively, or develop safer interpreting and translation practices, we would love to hear from you.
LEAG / community leadership
Join the Lived Experience Advisory Group
Our Lived Experience Advisory Group helps ensure that LJN’s work remains grounded in the realities of the communities we exist to support. LEAG members bring lived experience, insight, and critical perspective to the design of our programs, resources, and priorities.
This is not a symbolic role. It is part of how we build accountability into the organisation. Members contribute to shaping training, reviewing resources, identifying risks and gaps, and making sure our work remains connected to community realities.
If you are interested in contributing your experience, skills, or perspective, we would love to hear from you.
Volunteer / mentor
Supporting LJN beyond formal employment.
There are many ways to support LJN beyond formal employment. Depending on your experience and capacity, involvement might include mentoring bilingual community members, supporting event delivery, assisting with communications, contributing technical or professional skills, or helping strengthen our operational systems.
We value practical, thoughtful contributions and are especially interested in people who want to work in ways that are collaborative, community-aware, and values-aligned.
Donate
Support language justice.
Donations help LJN build the infrastructure and programs needed for long-term change. This includes supporting bilingual LGBTQIA+ people through training and certification pathways, developing community-led resources, sustaining workshops and forums, and strengthening the operational foundations that allow the organisation to grow responsibly.
Every contribution supports more than a service. It supports a future where multilingual communication is safer, more representative, and more accountable.
